Holland reach the World Cup final as Gio (cracker), Sneijder & Robben sink Uruguay

Before the semi-final NIKE released a new viral video supporting the Dutch while the Oranje captain Giovanni van Bronckhorst also spoke confidently about the Dutch’s chances.
Holland 3 – Uruguay 2 (World Cup semi-final, July 6, 2010) What a cracker! After 17 minutes in Cape Town Holland captain Giovanni van Bronckhorst left the net bulging with the goal of the World Cup, rifling a 35-yard howitzer into the far top corner that left Muslera grabbing thin air. Some slight argy-bargy broke out after Martin Caceres booted Demy de Zeeuw in the face on the edge of the box. Five minutes from the interval the Uruguayans levelled with a fantastic solo strike from Diego Forlan who wellied a swerving shot past Stekelenburg (who should have done better). First half highlights here. A chess match developed after the break until the 68th minute when Holland’s star of the tournament, Wesley Sneijder, saw his shot from the edge of the box deflect into the far corner of the net. After going in front Holland struck again, Kuyt’s cross was headed into the bottom corner by Arjen Robben. With the match seemingly dwindling to a close, Maxi Pereira pulled a goal back for the South Americans from a clever free-kick put it proved too little too late for the men from Montevideo.
