Stunning late turnaround ensures holders Inter Milan somehow emerge past Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich 2 – Inter Milan 3* (Agg. 3-3) (Champions League last 16 second leg, March 15, 2011) (Alternative highlights, longer highlights) Inter Milan needed just four minutes to level the tie on aggregate. Dejan Stankovic played in Samuel Eto’o who scuffed his shot through the legs of Kraft. Bayern levelled on the night on 21 and it was almost a replica of their first leg goal. Arjen Robben cut in and the effort from the Dutch winger was parried by Julio Cesar with Mario Gomez following up with a clever flick. Ten minutes later Bayern took the lead on the night and extended their aggregate advantage to 3-1 when Thomas Muller clipped over Cesar after Robben’s pass had deflected through off Lucio. Just after the hour Wesley Sneijder equalised on the night, leaving Inter just another away goal to go through, with a quality low strike from outside the box after an Eto’o cut back. The comeback was complete on 88 when Goran Pandev grabbed the priceless goal with a terrific finish after incredible work by Samuel Eto’o.
