Neuer contract will actually run out in 2012. With Schalke have to sell this 25-year-old goalkeeper at the end of this season if another club does not want free status alias menggaetnya with free transfers.
Neuer asserted that the decision had nothing to do with the other party.
"I took this decision without influence from outside. This decision has nothing to do with the change of coaches or other people from other clubs," said Neuer at Schalke's official website quoted by Sky Sports.
"I thank the fans of Schalke and unique, but I want to have the opportunity to change after serving the club for 20 years."
"I have made this decision and I want the public to know but for now all concentration focused on the best outcome for Schalke at the end of the season."
In addition to targeted Manchester United, Bayern Munich is a club that was widely touted to become the next Neuer port.
