Was Andrea Ranocchia’s incredible save the turning point for Inter Milan at Bayern Munich

“It went well and I’m very happy to have saved that goal. It was a night of such strong emotions. Coming here to overturn the result, especially when we went 2-1 down, was certainly not an easy task. We did it thanks to a performance of great heart. If we work like this, then there’s a very good chance we can do well in every competition.” – Andrea Ranocchia.
It seems safe to say that the plaudits for Inter Milan’s incredible comeback at Bayern Munich on Tuesday night will go to Samuel Eto’o (two assists and a goal), Wesley Sneijder and eventual match winner Goran Pandev.
Central defender Andrea Ranocchia should also be praised for an incredible goal-saving tackle that may well have turned the tie in Inter’s favour.
On 40 minutes, 2-1 down on the night and trailing 3-1 on aggregate, Mario Gomez just beat Julio Cesar to a deep cross and sent the ball spinning across the goal line.
Somehow Ranocchia manages to beat Thomas Muller to the ball and smack the ball against the post and out – incredible to watch and surely also a tie-winning tackle.
